Fire Safe San Mateo County annual Picnic

Casey attended a very informal picnic crowded with CalFire, County Fire/EOC, County operations and Management people, the various Arborists ( Parks, County, CalFire ), POST, MPOpenSpace, Stanford researchers.
Fascinating discussion with a Stanford biomapping researcher, Debora from the County, the ED of MidPen Open Space and another county dude on biomapping our ridges, access to the LIDAR data, what the proper grazed grasslands density is ( 60 lbs/acre dry gasses? can't be right ) etc.
more centrally to us R. Sampson and I talked about the Aug 21 meeting. He feels his crews are really too busy to be doing outreach on fire season weekends, and is very concerned about the messaging/impressions a given set of guys in the trucks will convey. Therefore he isn't sure that we'll be able to have anyone come up to the Camp - unless it is him or another senior officer.
He also expressed concern that there are not enough involved citizens up that way create and carry on the work.
