Neighborhood Coordinators
Purpose:
- Provide coordination, direction, material and assistance to fellow canyon residents when emergency conditions (flood, fire, road blockage) exist.
- Support first responder’s Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping by helping to identify significant shut-off values (water, gas), propane tanks, and other ancillary systems associated with houses in Butano Canyon.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with each neighbor to discuss the purpose of a Neighborhood Coordinator.
- Get permission from each neighbor to go on their property to support the first responders GIS mapping.
- Explain what specific duties the Neighborhood Coordinator will be providing in case of an emergency.
Duties:
- Identify houses that are within the responsibility of each Neighborhood Coordinator
- Provide each neighbor a copy of the emergency escape routes, emergency siren codes, image of GIS map of their house, and contact list of Neighborhood Coordinators.
- Assist with identifying escape routes and cleaning of trails as necessary.
- Participate in emergency tests.
- Every month check walkie-talkie batteries to ensure each walkie-talkie is working.
- Participate in meetings with other Neighborhood Coordinators on the 4 th Friday of each month.
- Identify alternate Neighborhood Coordinator for backup and assistance in the event that you are gone from Butano Canyon.
