Thursday October 24 14 2019 Regional CERT Ham meeting
This is a quarterly meeting between Peninsula CERT groups to discuss radio issues.
San Mateo County wide radio propagation test again. ( Casey participated in the last one )
50 watts and above ; no hand held radios. may do single side band work.
reports of interest: Foster City and San Mateo have unified their CERT grups. Expanding to Belmont next year.
- many opportunities for training.
Menlo Park / Atherton
- 1st Sat in Nov, Menlo Park / Atherton groups regathered.
- their organization is called ADAPT - Atherton Disaster and Preparedness Team
Kings Mountain
- John and Bill, our hosts for their simplex test, were there for the first time
- described a Nov 9 CERT drill
Millbrea CERT
- just an intro, really
Radio stuff.
- stupid 'safe words' during exercise. why say things like 'JACKSON JACKSON' for a real emergency? hard to remember confusing.
- all agree to just use "BREAK-BREAK-BREAK! I have a real emergency!"
CERT stuff
- some discussino about triage and not using the word "BLACK" to describe the traditionally "BLACK colored tags"
- just be sensible and not say things like "I have 6 Blacks" more along the line of "...6 black tags"
