Escape Route: Creek Trail to Laurel Meadow
Casey's report from Wendy's guided hike
This trail leaves from Peery's meadow SW through a clear gap in the trees. The trail is overgrown but passable. it's an old logging or truck road. at a couple of points there are blue plastic tape 'blazes.' Just before the Meadow you will be in a big stand of trees, just drift to the left and you'll emerge W of the little hut and see the flag pole and a small outbuilding.
IF you had to you could get a wheelchair through to Laurel Meadow
The foot bridge to Canyon Road is just behind, and below the outbuilding from this location.
Wendy, Mitchell and I ( including brave four footed Finnegan ) explored the trial further to an abandoned shack. This part of the trail has some dead fall which makes footing a bit tricky... In the summer it will be quite bushy. We got to a magnificent stand of redwoods and ended up across the creek from the main girl scout camp. However we didn't find a crossing and more importantly the banks are quite steep wherever we inspected.
