notes:

  • there is declining participation by local governments in emergency planning ( city, county ) and the school systems are stepping up
  • CEC was formed so OES and CalFire will have feet on teh ground who understands the various community volunteer formats.
  • getting official Activation for drills is difficult, let alone actual emergency situations
  • CPeery and another local radio ( HMB ) open discussion
    • record 4 points for automated broadcast: 1) Fire, go Down 2) Tsunami, go UP, 3) EQuake shelter in, 4) flood go UP
  • pumpkin fest budget for security skyrockets due to Gilroy Garlic Fest shooting
  • LisaM announces upcoming Red Cross Shelter training, and dinner
  • Cool exercise for radio drills - describe 5 shapes ( triangle, square, pentagon, circle, rectangle ) without using the name of the figure
  • Frenchman's Creek is offering 5 days of training in a local park - Water, Shelter , Food, Security, Family Traiing are the issues/lessons

  • they run Safety Check, Amber Alert in countries, provide disaster maps to NGS, also 'heat maps' of people's mobility to emergency services in disasters, showing people flow
