About This Wiki
This is intended to be a place where we can work together to plan, gather information and record progress.
Here is a sample which may help show the utility of a wiki, from our GIS Mapping project. There might be a page called Canyon Map containing a version of the overview map folks are working on. under that there may be a page called Canyon Map/Neighborhoods ( go take a look )
the plumbing
This is based three pieces of software - one being the same software which runs Wikipedia. Casey has stitched that together with something called Mantis, which is a bug-tracking software. Casey has modified it to remove most the software like terminology, meaning it's now just a super to-do list with task dependencies. (ie: we can't program spare radios until we buy the radios ) The third piece is a common piece of Forum software, intended to be a place where we can have on-line discussions and not lose details in everyone's emails spread thither-and-yon.
All this is running at badubadu.com, a BAker-DUnn family server hosted at Hurricane Electric in Oakland. The pages are encrypted using the Let's Encrypt project's code. We can move it to its own server pretty easily, or even move it into the Canyon proper once we have solid internet connectivity.
Getting started with pages
- The best place to start is to login in and then use the link to the left under "My Pages" and lick on your name/id. This will take you to a page you can use to experiment with formatting. Please do!
- you won't see the "My Pages" link until you log in.
- one you are editing a page there is an 'Editing Help' link down in twords the bottom. That has some formatting information.
- Consult the official User's Guide for ( lots ) more information on using the wiki software.
- Templates to copy
