The 10am crew conducted radio checks along the way ( Casey to back-fill the locations ) and eventually lost contact with colleagues in the Canyon. Switchnig over to Ham channels ( Butano UP / BU UP on your radios ) worked pretty well from the upper routes.

Sept 3rd there were 2 group hikes from behind the GS camp's Mess Hall to the Butano Fire Road. As it worked out we followed the east and west arms of the Murrrelet Loop

Don and Monique left at 9am, and via some route ( please edit ) made it to the top.

The 10am crew of Catherine, William, Mitchell and Casey met them as they were descending via a different route then they ascended.

The 10am crew reports that these are steep but well maintained trails. A fair amount of the ascent could be done in ATVs or stout vehicles.
